Regulations: Student Library Carrels
- The use of a carrel is a privilege that can be revoked; it is not a right.
- Those who choose to ignore these regulations will forfeit their carrel privilege.
- Each closed carrel is for the exclusive use of students assigned to that carrel.
- It is permissible to swap carrels with another carrel holder, but only after the change has been registered with Joan Pomajevich, Circulation Desk in the Olin Library.
- No food or tobacco products are allowed in the library or in carrels. Beverages are allowed only in approved spill-proof containers.
- Carrel windows must remain unobstructed and free of any coverings, stickers, etc. unless otherwise approved by the Head of Circulation.
- Furniture from other areas of the library may not be placed in carrels.
- All library materials kept in a carrel must have been properly charged to the student.
- Non-circulating materials (periodicals, reference works) may not be kept in carrels.
- Carrels should be kept locked.
- The College is not responsible for personal items that may be lost, stolen or damaged.
- The contents of all carrels are carefully examined on a weekly basis.
- Students who may be summoned to a conversation with the Head of Circulation, must respond within two working days.
